An Elton John re-creation show is about to land in the shire.
Elton – Out of the Closet, stars Jason Paris as the show re-creates John’s golden mid-70s period when he was young, outrageous and full of energy as one of the hottest rock stars in the world.
While visually focused on the 70s, the show spans all John’s big hits from 1970 to 1994 as it re-creates John and his band including guitarist Davey Johnstone, drummer Nigel Olsson and Dee Murray (bass).
The Brass Monkey, Cronulla will host the two-and-a-half hour show on March 25 and also features the flamboyant costumes, characters, stories and iconic instruments of John’s career at the time.
Paris conceived, funded, produced and directed the show which he developed over three years. Inspired by some of the world’s great tribute shows, Paris set out to recreate the Elton John experience in all its 1970s glory.
To make the show more authentic, Paris had a grand piano shell custom made, reproduced Olsson’s 1974 drum kit and acquired the iconic guitars and other exotic instruments that feature on some of John’s classic recordings.
“Elton – Out of the Closet is the finest and most authentic Elton John tribute on Earth,” Paris said.
“It’s been a real labour of love, working through all the challenges of finding top costumiers, instrument manufacturers, graphic designers.
“For [the show] to occupy the same space as the world’s greatest tribute shows means having a world-class attitude and attention to detail, which all our cast members possess.”
