Bayside Council will not follow the lead of its neighbour and move staff into one central location.
The council will instead accommodate all employees within existing council owned sites under the new interim staff accommodation proposal.
While most staff would remain at their current locations around 25 per cent would have to be moved.
Under the proposal the staff would be relocated to four main sites including the Rockdale Administrative building, Botany Depot, Bexley Depot and the Hillsdale Community Centre.
Extensive renovations would need to be made to accommodate the extra staff at three of the four sites.
Council has estimated it will cost around $1.2 million to renovate the Rockdale building, Bexley Depot and Hillsdale Community Centre.
That includes $685,365 for the Rockdale administration centre, $460,000 for the Hillsdale Community Centre and $70,000 for the Bexley Depot.
The council has confirmed the Mascot administration site would not close but said investigations would be undertaken on how to use the site in the future.
A working group comprising of newly elected Bayside councillors and council staff will be formed to look into potential uses.
Staff are expected to have moved by September.
It comes after last month the former Kogarah Council building was advertised for lease with staff due to be moved to the Hurstville Civic Centre which is being renovated to become the administrative headquarters of the newly merged Georges River Council.
