More than 70,000 people have visited the Angelo Anestis Aquatic Centre since its opening on Australia Day.
Sydney’s sweltering weather has enticed thousands of people to visit the new centre with the outdoor pool and children’s splash pad being a big hit with families.
Since it opened more than 1,200 people have enrolled in swim lessons, 500 have purchased multiple visit passes, and more than 1,000 people have joined the gym.
BlueFit manages the centre.
Managing Director Todd McHardy said the centre was a big hit with members and visitors alike.
“It’s a great start to the new facility and members are loving the brand new equipment,” he said.
‘’Our team have done a great job working hard in partnership with council at getting through one of the hottest Sydney weather periods in recent history.
‘’The facility really hold the crowds well. We are already booked out for next February's school carnival season and looking forward to continuing to grow the health club membership and swim school enrolment bases.”
Bayside Council Administrator Greg Wright said he was proud of the centre which was opened two months ahead of schedule.
“It’s an important community asset and we are delighted that it’s so popular,’’ he said.
