Club Rivers will be giving either a local school student or Club Rivers staff member the opportunity of a lifetime to walk the Kokoda trail in Papua New Guinea.
The club is looking for potential participants in this year’s Kokoda Youth Leadership Challenge which is overseen by the RSL and Services Clubs Association.
The program is a life changing experience that is designed to teach more about Australia’s military history and the Kokoda Trail Campaign, while building leadership skills.
This will be the second year in a row that Club Rivers has supported this program, with staff member Thomas Morgan successfully completing the trek in 2016.
The chosen recipient will undertake the 10-day physical challenge in August-September; completing a rigorous 96km long trek with altitude changes of 300 metres to 2200m above sea level.
The challenge will not only test the recipient physically but also emotionally in their ability to deal with the difficult circumstances.
The club is looking for someone aged between 17-25 years of age and who are willing to learn about the Kokoda campaign prior to their departure and to commit to a rigorous physical training
program to ensure they are physically capable of completing the trek.
If this sounds like you, please contact Club Rivers Reception on 9533 3144 to see how to apply.
Applications close on 31st March 2017
