The Cronulla Sharks are doing their bit to help kids make healthier choices with their food.
The club have teamed up with Woolworths, who will sponsor the family hill at Southern Cross Group Stadium for the next two seasons.
The partnership will involve Woolworths giving away fruit to kids at all Sharks home games, starting with the local derby against St George Illawarra on Sunday.
Students from Kurnell Public School joined Cronulla Sharks players Ruan Sims, Paul Gallen, James Maloney, Chad Townsend and Valentine Holmes to launch the initiative on Friday.
Sims, the Sharks womens and Australian Jillaroos captain, said the club were leading the way in the community.
“I think it’s fantastic and I think a lot of parents will be silently cheering because they won’t have to spend so much at the canteen,” she said.
“It’s always good fun and good to support the club and it’s great to have new sponsors on board.”
The festivities included an incredible fruit platter with the players’ faces carved into fruit and a watermelon shark, while the players also joined the students in bobbing for apples.
