Legendary British band The Animals will be playing at the Brass Monkey on Thursday, May 11.
The Animals were “one of the most important bands” in the British Invasion.
While The Beatles and Rolling Stones were the headliners, The Animals were the backbone of blues.
The band had a staggering nine top 50 hits in Australia.
Legendary frontman Eric Burdon has not played with the band in decades and is not on this Australia and New Zealand tour but original members John Steel and Mick Gallagher are joined by Danny Handley and Roberto Ruiz to bring The Animals live experience.
The Animals boasts some of the greatest songs in popular music history – The House of The Rising Sun, We’ve Gotta Get Out Of This Place, Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood, It’s My Life, Don’t Bring Me Down and Boom Boom (as featured in the James Bond movie, Skyfall).
The Animals earned their name thanks to their wild stage act. That was 50 years ago and they have calmed down since, but their music has lost none of its vigour.
Drummer, John Steel told spotlightreport.net that he was looking forward to the tourn downunder n May.
“We’ve got a band that’s really good, tight, and live – we play live,” Steel said.
“We play because we love playing. And we’ll be playing all the best Animals hits.
“There’s a dozen numbers that we do every night, and the rest of the set we play various kind of album tracks and B-sides and things.
“We freshen it up – we don’t play the same set more than a few times before trying something else.
“A lot of good stuff that wasn’t necessarily hit singles, you know?
“And yeah, you get a good live set with energy – lots of energy on stage.”
