The staff and animals at the Sutherland Shire Council Animal Shelter were thrilled to find Christmas had come early this year after a surprise donation.
The donation, by an anonymous animal lover, included toys, treats and pet health products.
Sutherland Shire Mayor Carmelo Pesce thanked the mystery donor.
“We’re absolutely thrilled that we have such kind and compassionate members of our community,’’ he said.
“This is a selfless act and one which should not go unnoticed, while we respect their wishes to remain anonymous of course.
“The staff at our animal shelter do an amazing job of caring for, re-homing and returning lost animals of all shapes and sizes and this donation will help them help the animals.”
Sutherland Shire Council’s Animal Shelter regularly accepts animals from other areas of Sydney to accommodate under their no-kill policy, until they can find their new family and forever home.
It is always looking for quality toys and training treats.
People can also volunteer at the shelter by bathing, walking or simply playing with the animals to show them some love and affection.
