Kogarah, it’s your time to speak up.
Residents are being asked to share their vision for the area when Kogarah Community Services holds its annual Community Conversation next Monday, June 5.
The event is being held by Kogarah Community Services so it can plan its future activities after hearing from residents about what services they would like to see in their area.
Guest speaker on the day will be Lina Jebeile, author of the popular blog The Lebanese Plate and founder of the campaign #spreadhummusnothate.
A mother-of-four from Peakhurst, Lina hopes that by sharing her love of food she will help overcome cultural barriers.
Her blog, The Lebanese Plate and has amassed more than 20,000 followers on her Instagram page since it was launched in 2015.
Deciding to use her newfound popularity for good she also started using the hashtag #spreadhummusnothate.
She said the idea behind the social media campaign was to invite people to share food and celebrate their similarities not their differences
Lina will share her story and discuss how community change can come about in many different ways.
The Community conversation will be held at the Kogarah Community Hub, 49 English Street, Kogarah, next Monday from 10am to 12.30pm.
A free morning tea will be provided so bookings are needed for catering purposes.
To book, phone 9587 6622.
