Another hazard reduction burn has been planned for the Royal National Park this week.
National Parks and Wildlife Service Area Manager Andres Bianch said the 102 hectare burn will begin on Monday and take two days to complete.
It will be located near Deer Park Church Camps west of Bundeena
He said around 65 firefighters from NPWS, NSW Rural Fire Service and Fire and Rescue NSW will take part in the burn which begins at 10am.
“Smoke from the burn may be highly visible and impact on local areas. Residents on the north side of the Hacking River in suburbs such as Lilli Pilli, Grays Point, Port Hacking, Yowie Bay, Miranda and even Cronulla may see smoke during the burn,’’ he said.
“Residents of Bundeena and Maianbar may see and smell smoke from this burn.’’
During the burn Warumbul Road will be closed and Youthworks Conference Centre, Gogerlys Point and Winifred Falls will be inaccessible.
People with asthma or those susceptible to respiratory problems are advised to keep clear of the area or stay indoors and keep doors and windows closed.
