Karate star Alana Marion won a gold medal at the karate World Cup held on the Gold Coast last month, all while only 10-years-old.
Competing against some of the best young karate stars from several countries including the US, England and New Zealand, Alana excelled to secure a spot in the final and win the championship.
Alana competed in the kumite event of the 9 to 11-years age group defeating 20 competitors to win the gold medal.
She is a member of the GKR Karate school at Illawong, practicing traditional Japanese style karate as well as having the opportunity to learn self defence and fitness.
The GKR Karate World Cup is run every two years with karate students aged 9 to 70-years-old from more than 30 GKR schools (dojos) competing in their respective age groups promoting character building and physical development.
To qualify for the karate world cup, students need to place in the top three of their regional or national championships.
