UPDATE:
The crew of a large catamaran, which flipped on Port Hacking in strong winds, were rescued safely.
A Marine Rescue NSW spokesman said, about 3.20pm, Marine Rescue Solander radio base overheard a report of a vessel overturned in the mouth of Port Hacking, east of Bundeena.
“The rescue vessel Port Hacking 30, already in the area on training, reached the capsized catamaran within six minutes,” he said.
“The vessel is about 40 feet long.
“The crew members are safe.
“Marine Area Command was notified and a water police crew was sent to the scene to take control.
“Wind gusts at the time of the incident were recorded at close to 35 knots.
“When the water police arrived the wind had decreased to around 15 knots.
“The overturned ‘cat’ has been secured off Jibbon Beach close to a cruiser that ran aground Sunday.”
The skipper of Port Hacking, 30, was Graham Clarke. The crew were Grahame Albury and Di Castro.

A rescue is in progress after a large catamaran flipped on Port Hacking in strong wind.
Marine Rescue NSW boat Port Hacking 30 has responded.
The boat capsized just off Jibbon Beach near where a cruiser beached itself on Sunday.
Strong winds have battered Sydney today with the strongest gusts at Camden with 74 km/h and Sydney Airport with 69 km/h.
Winds will swing around to the south by the evening.
