A woman, 50, was injured during an axe attack in Penshurst yesterday.
About 7.30am on Monday the woman was reversing her car in the driveway of her home on George Street when she was approached by a woman holding an axe.
The attacker swung the axe at the car causing the windscreen to break. The driver was hit by the axe, causing bruises to her arm.
The attacker fled in her car before the victim alerted family who called police.
Following investigations, a woman, 46, was arrested at a home in Eagle Vale and taken to Macquarie Fields police station.
She has been charged with reckless wounding (attempted) and malicious damage to property.
She has been refused bail to attend Campbelltown Local Court today.
