Walking through the familiar streets of the St George area, I am often greeted by front gardens bursting with colour and life.

There are perfectly trimmed green hedges cultivated through love and dedication.

I see all sorts of trees expertly-cut into orbs by homeowners who simply want to create something beautiful for passersby.

There are plains of happy green grass blades all jostling to grow underfoot while I admire decades-old charming letterboxes nested on the turf, or sometimes mounted into the front wall of homes.

I notice vibrant shades of colour – reds, oranges and pinks from flora of all shapes and sizes, matched only by the fragrance they bless us with.

Some homes compliment their gardens with interesting water features or lighting that reveals flowers you’d never notice when walking at dusk.

As a real estate agent in St George, I know residents love their homes, and some love their front gardens even more.

St George's abundance of flora isn't limited to just the Camellia Gardens.
St George's abundance of flora isn't limited to just the Camellia Gardens.

I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing this my entire life. Born in Carlton and educated in Kogarah, real estate was a natural gravitation for me and I relished the opportunity to fit people to their dream home.

I was fortunate enough to have four children, and my daughter Myanna has, as an adult, joined me in this incredibly fulfilling real estate industry.

Myanna is an amazing referencer; she finds the perfect place for a buyer to inspect, the perfect place for an owner to inspect and does it with a smile.

I look forward to the day where Myanna has her own team and agency. The market will be an even better place for real estate sales and leasing.

Myanna and I wanted to celebrate the passion for gardening that feels so unique to our beautiful local area.

We are running a competition to find St George’s most beautiful garden. Entering is easy – email or post three photos of your garden to pwedes@montgom.com.au or 12 Penshurst Street, Penshurst, NSW 2222.
