Re the article ‘‘Petition calls for fig tree to stay in road’’ (Leader, November 22).
It’s a no brainer. No No No. the tree stays let’s chop the current council members out of their seat.
Rochelle Southwell
Fig Tree has to stay. El Sol has to stay. Cut down a few developers and turn them into traffic lights.
Scott Stanborough
Save the Fig tree. The council have other reasons to cut it down. Not just for traffic lights - high rise units comes to mind.
Karen Strickland
Why can’t we follow cities overseas like Waikiki’s International Marketplace where they built around the huge banyan tree due to public demand to keep it. It’s iconic just like this figtree! Please don’t cut it down. The shire is losing too much of its identity!
Heather Watson
Council won't listen to anyone, they do what they want to do to make money, they didn't listen about the Women's Rest Centre, they just went and pulled it down at 3am in the morning.
Janene Anne Grinham
No it shouldn't be cut down. And lights wont make a difference to that intersection. The problem is still the bottle neck at the station... on the weekend the traffic was banked all the way back to that fig tree from the mall... plus in the opposite direction back to gunnamatta. Traffic lights there will just be an inconvenience.
Katie May Wills
Save the tree . Let it stand for all the others given the chop already by greedy developers!
Kerry Tracy
So many restrictions by council on just trimming g a tree, let alone cutting one down. ‘Do as I say, not as I do’ the council catch-cry.
Deborah Brancourt
Leave the fig. No more lights. Traffic heavy on summer weekends mostly. Why inconvenience locals needlessly?
Karen Mack
How backward is this council. Traffic lights are old school. Leave the tree S.O.F.T. (save our fig tree).
