The German Butchery Deli and Cafe in Bexley North has been recognised in the Australian Ham Awards.
The St George business won first prize in NSW for its boneless ham and third in NSW for its ham on the bone.
The wholesale side of the business is operated by Tino and Kati Dees at their smallgoods factory in Mona Vale and their products have been awarded over a hundred championship, gold, silver and bronze medals at the Sydney Royal Fine Food Show.
Mr Dees said he was thrilled with the award.
“We are proud to make our own ham using 100 per cent Australian pork,’’ he said.
‘’We only use Australian pork because we believe it delivers the best tasting ham, of a great quality, and supports our Aussie farmers.
‘’We enter the awards because we believe in our product and the awards allow us to showcase our product to the Australian market.”
Madeleine Herz from the German Butchery Deli and Café said Christmas hams were ready to order now.
“We’re really pleased with the quality of this year’s hams and we’re encouraging people to order now, to ensure they have the perfect centrepiece for their festive feast,” she said.
“Our hams are smoked over beechwood, giving the ham its unique award winning flavour.”
