The future looks bright for Moorefield Men’s Bowling Club after two of their teams qualified for the Bowls NSW Club Challenge Finals.
Moorefield took on the best in the state at Albion Park Bowling Club last weekend, with both of the Kogarah club’s sides leading their sections on Saturday before rain and wind forced bowlers from the greens.
When they returned after the delay only one Moorefield team could hang on to top their section, with the other finishing second behind RSL Sussex Inlet.
The final was played at Warilla Bowling Club on Sunday where Moorefield took on RSL Sussex Inlet. Moorefield’s team of Chris Haigh, Roy Higham, Mark Hills, Brian Dashwood, Tim Duggan and Mark Seghers fell 2-1 to finish as runners-up.
It has been an outstanding year for Moorefield, whose top pennants side reached their finals undefeated as the club reached two pennants grand finals. Moorefield also hosted the Champions of Champions knockouts and singles finals.
Two of the club’s younger members, Danny Supple and Nathan Bornstein, also won the Prestige Pairs Tournament at Taren Point.
