So, who can stop Sydney FC?
Sydney is once again sky blue after Sydney FC thrashed crosstown rivals Western Sydney 5-0 in the Sydney derby at ANZ Stadium on Saturday night.
Sydney FC captain Alex Brosque won his 100th game with the Sky Blues while Adrian Mierzejewski scored the club’s 500th A-League goal.
Sydney FC dominated throughout the contest, creating a host of chances and keeping the hosts under severe pressure from the first whistle.
Two goals from Mierzejewski and others to Brosque, Brandon O’Neill and an own goal from Lachlan Scott saw Sydney score the biggest win in the history of the fixture.
Sydney FC coach Graham Arnold said it was close to his side’s best performance of the season so far.
“We work very hard on every aspect of the game and make sure that we’re teaching the players how to win,” he said.
“I could see it in the eyes of my boys this week. We worked very hard on having the right mentality and winning this game.
“There’s a lot of belief in that group. There’s a lot of belief in what we do as a team and at the end of the day the one negative is that we should’ve scored another five.”
Sydney FC remain five points clear at the top of the A-League table and host Melbourne City at Allianz Stadium on Friday night.
