Discussions on selling the public car park adjoining the bowling club in Croydon Street, Cronulla, for a new development are proceeding.

Sutherland Shire Council discussed in a confidential session the outcome of its negotiations with the adjoining Cronulla Bowling and Recreation Club (Club Cronulla).

The club approached the council last year about buying the car park for incorporation into a new development on its site.

The council agreed to negotiations on the condition public parking would have to be included in any new development.

The results of the negotiations were not disclosed after the council’s confidential session.

Minutes of the meeting stated only that the recommendation on the outcome of negotiations, outlined in a staff report, be accepted.

A spokeswoman added, “Council did resolve to proceed with negotiations”.
