RE the article ‘‘Stern F6 message: More than 200 residents attend meeting’’ (Leader, March 7).
As the MP for Rockdale Steve Kamper says, this isn’t the F6 it’s a WestConnex con.
An expensive scam on all of us to funnel more vehicles through WestConnex’s tollgates so they can flog it off to their mates in the big end of town.
If you’re barracking for the F6 right now you’ve fallen for the con.
More roads make more traffic, not less. It’s been proven over and over since the 1930s. It even has a name: ‘‘induced traffic’’.
If you want to cut traffic, give drivers better public transport options.
Build the Waterfall to Thirroul tunnel on the T4 rail line to save 25 minutes off the commute from Wollongong. That means less cars through the Shire and St George.
F6? T4!

The F6 extension to the WestConnex bears little resemblance to the original WestConnex concept.
Now there is no dedicated transport link for the port area, as the F6 will be mostly underground, and it’s illegal to transport hazardous materials such as fuel and chemicals through tunnels.
This is not a solution to any transport problem, it’s simply the creation of another toll road for private operators and supposedly providing the infrastructure needed for more high-rise development along its route.

Don’t listen to the whingers just build it. Most of them probably don’t even live near the proposed F6 and are just rent a crowd.

It’s been on maps for the last 25 years, just build it .… or we’ll be leaving at 4am for a 7am start.
