Bloodied. Bruised. Beaten.

It was a tough night for Cronulla on Thursday as bitter local rivals St George Illawarra took the Monty Porter Cup home from the shire for the second year in a row.

The Dragons came from behind to down the Sharks 20-16 in front of more than 13,000 fans at Southern Cross Group Stadium as Cronulla blew an early 14-0 lead.

The Sharks have now lost their opening two matches of the 2018 season, while St George Illawarra are top of the NRL table after two wins in the first two rounds.

Cronulla will look to regroup when they travel to ANZ Stadium to face Parramatta on Saturday night. Sharks coach Shane Flanagan is hopeful of having veteran back-rower Luke Lewis available after an ankle injury.

The Dragons could make it three wins in a row when they head up to Toowoomba to face the Gold Coast.
