Re the article ‘‘Fig trees are stressed’’ (Leader, March 14).
Council has their own rules on which trees should go or stay.
To pull these two down would be a travesty, unless of course someone sneaks around in the middle of the night (as per the Women’s Rest Centre) and poisons them so they become dangerous.
They refused permission for a 100-year-old Angophora on my property to be removed but that’s ok because it fell on its own a few years later and destroyed half my house. And almost killed me.

Thank you Matthew Reed, the community owes you a great debt. Please council implement the aborist’s remediation plan asap.

Leave the tree alone please. It’s not blocking anything. It’s big and beautiful and it’s not harming anyone or anything. Why not focus on more important things.
Bianca Glendinning
That tree must stay and traffic lights are not required at that intersection.
John Gough
Please preserve and protect the fig tree. It is very precious piece of nature.
Rebekah Fuchs
Leave the trees and plant more.
Adele Phillips
You can keep the tree and make it a one way down to the roundabout.

This can become a test. It’s a test of our community willing to say Save The Trees and hence send a message to council and governments that we live here and we don’t want it turned into a high-rise ghetto for the sake of enriching councils and government and provide expensive shoddy units for over rich foreign nationals.
