Thousands of players stepped out on the court on Saturday when the Sutherland Shire Netball Association season returned for 2018.
On a picturesque autumn day, reigning A1 premiers Storm Netball Club suffered an upset 34-31 loss to Taren Point in their opening round clash.
Beaten grand finalists Sylvania downed Thistles 1 46-16 while Thistles 2 beat Sharks 46-28 and Magpies defeated Falcons.
As well as senior games there were a host of junior matches played. Among the many results, Barden Ridge had a win against Fatima in the under-10s C division while Gymea also downed Sylvania in the under-11s A division.
The annual Crazy Hair and Sock Day fundraiser for the Kid’s Cancer Project will be held on June 16.
