An investigation is underway after a man was struck by a vehicle at Hurstville, leaving him with critical injuries.
The 79-year-old was struck by a reversing van while crossing Barratt Street just before 8am yesterday.
Emergency services were alerted and the man was taken to St George Hospital with head injuries.
He remains in hospital in a critical condition.
The driver of the van, a 41-year-old man, was breath tested at the scene and returned a negative result.
Officers from St George Police Area Command are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
