Several university students in St George and Sutherland Shire have been rewarded with national scholarships – a gift that will give them real-life experience outside of the lecture hall.
First-year undergraduates Adam Van Zuylen of Arncliffe, Daniel Clopatofsky Sanchzez of Peakhurst and Elizabeth Karpathiou of Kirrawee, received the Westpac Young Technologists Scholarhips.
The scholarships aim to strengthen Australia’s pool of talent and grow future leaders of innovation.
They are offered in partnership with 11 universities and valued at up to $25,000.
A total of 35 scholarships were offered.
Daniel studies the the University of Technology, Sydney, and has an interest in human resources and Information Technology.
Adam attends the same university and is passionate about drone technology and data engineering.
Elizabeth, also a UTS student, hopes to pursue a career in Information Technology.
Davina Tang of Rockdale, Meira Chen, and Tony Lian of Carlton received the Asian Exchange Scholarships.
They are valued at up to $12,000 and are offered in partnership with eight universities.
A total of 37 scholarships were up for grabs.
Students will have the opportunity to study for up to a year at a university in China, Singapore or Hong Kong.
Meira, from the University of NSW, has a keen interest in creating social change within rural education for young women.
