Smoke will remain visible to residents near fire-affected areas over the coming days or weeks as unburnt bushland, well within containment lines, continues to burn out.
Under forecasted weather conditions, smoke is also likely to settle across the Sutherland Shire.
The fire that tore through areas of Sutherland Shire is now contained, having burnt more than 3800 hectares.
Firefighters from NSW Rural Fire Service and Fire and Rescue NSW will continue to monitor and undertake regular patrols of the fire ground over the coming days.
Heathcote and New Illawarra Roads remain open, with normal speed limits enforced.
But motorists should exercise caution when travelling around or near fire-affected areas as smoke may reduce visibility and firefighters continue to operate in the area.
There are no immediate threats to life or property but people are advised not to enter fire-affected areas because of the ongoing threat of falling trees.
If you have asthma or a lung condition, reduce outdoor activities.
