RE the article ‘‘$21M reno move’’ (Leader, April 25).
This is completely wasteful and ridiculous. It’s a temporary solution to an outdated and depressing building that simply needs to be rebuilt.
The fact that this is the largest venue of its kind in southern Sydney is an embarrassment. We could certainly learn a thing or too from Chatswood!

Council can find money for a reno costing $21 million, what about all the streets without footpaths, what about more playgrounds for our kids to play in, what about toilets & BBQ’s in the park at Castleneau Street, Caringbah South.
What about you replace the Womens rest centre in Cronulla. Come on council get your priorities right.

It needs improving and updating to cater for all people including the disabled, but where is the money to come from except from rates and taxes?
Perhaps the rates should be based on the number of people in a building who use these facilities rather than the value of the piece of land their home is on.
This council has failed to make correct decisions about anything, so why should this be any different!

Option 4: make the temporary arrangements during renovation works permanent. The centre is a commercial concern and should not be the ratepayers' burden.
