Dobie’s Cabinet post
I’d like to remind Dr Prior (Your View May 2) that Don Dobie did in fact attain senior Cabinet status in the McMahon Cabinet as Assistant Minister to the PM from 1971 to 1972. He lost the seat of Cook in December ‘72 but regained it in 1975. I always thought he never gained a Cabinet post in the Fraser Government because of his backing of the McMahon/Sydney faction in defeating Gorton in the leadership spill in 1971.

Return your trolley
I am very frustrated seeing shopping trolleys dumped on the streets surrounding Westfield Miranda. They are everywhere surrounding Miranda, Kiora Road (both ends)Karimbula Road, The Kingsway, Willock Avenue, Adina Street, Animbo and View Streets. I have approached Coles and Woolworths to ask their help. Woolworths: “Our customers need them to take their shopping to cars” - they are not interested in that they are on the streets and left outside the railway station. Our council say they can’t help ‘‘not responsible”. My question to them: Isn’t council responsible for pathways? Seems not. To the careless people who just dump their trolley - shame. We need Clean up Australia Day 365 days a year.
