Sutherland Shire volunteers who play a vital role in supporting the blind and low vision community were acknowledged for their dedication.
Non-profit organisation Vision Australia held its annual volunteer recognition event at Caringbah on May 7.
Volunteers were recognised for their supportive roles for one, five, 15 and 20 years of service.
Caringbah’s Ted Cramsie has volunteered with Vision for two decades.
“I saw an ad in the paper asking for people to volunteer to record reading the newspaper, so I decided to give that a go,” he said.
“From there I went on to reading books on to tape.
“I’ve helped with things like social days out for clients and driving them to different activities and for the last little while I’ve looked after the collection dogs program in the region.
“It’s just something that I really enjoy. I’ve probably got as much out of the experience as I’ve given back.”
