A swarm of Vespas will create a buzz when they descend on South Hurstville on Saturday to help celebrate the official grand opening of a new espresso bar.
ArchiZEN Espresso Bar, at 848 King Georges Road, is the brainchild of Adrian Zenere, a local architect with Italian heritage who has a passion for good coffee.
Mr Zenere said the Vespa Club of Sydney will ride from Sydney to ArchiZEN arriving about 10am on May 12.
‘‘Vespa is the Italian word for wasp which represents the distinctive sound they make,’’ Mr Zenere said.
‘‘We wanted to create a buzz for our grand opening so the Vespas were the perfect fit.’’
ArchiZEN Espresso Bar will offer authentic Italian coffee served by an award winning barista, and foods, including cannoli and pannini, in an ambiance reminiscent of the rich interiors of a cozy Milanese Espresso Bar,’’ Mr Zenere said.
‘‘Our nutella and ricotta cannoli are a getting great response from customers - most cannot stop at eating only one with their coffee!’’
Mr Zenere said for lunch, archiZEN Espresso will serve toasted pannini, using Italian-style breads, including schiacciata and ciabatta, filled with a variety of meat choices, including prosciutto, salami, chicken and ham, with cheeses such as provolone.
‘‘Since the closure of Subway a couple of years ago many of the locals have been asking for simple tasty wholesome sandwich rolls which archiZEN Espresso will now offer.’’
