An Engadine man, 23, was charged with break and enter and stealing following a report by an alert member of the public.
Police responded to the the report of an unconscious man inside a Ford Utility in Fairview Avenue, Engadine, Sutherland Shire Police Area Command said in a Facebook post.
“An investigation commenced after police spoke with the male at the scene, which revealed the plates on the Ford allegedly had been reported stolen earlier that morning.
“Further investigation revealed the male offender allegedly gained entry into industrial premises in Waratah Street, Kirrawee about 4am on Monday, May 7, where several items were removed from a caravan and a CB radio from a vehicle inside the compound.”
The statement said CCTV footage allegedly tracked the man leaving the compound by cutting the chain to the gate.
“Police will further allege the male removed a set of number plates from a vehicle that was parked a short distance away,” the statement said.
The man was charged at Sutherland Police Station with break and enter, stealing a motor vehicle and larceny.
He was given strict conditional bail and is due to appear in Sutherland Local Court on June 7.
