Woman charged with drink-driving after near miss with police car at Loftus

A woman, who almost collided with a police car at Loftus yesterday, will face court next month after being charged with drink driving.

About 4.20pm yesterday, the woman had driven from Grays Point to collect her two grandchildren, aged two and four, from pre-school.

As the 57-year-old woman’s vehicle was approaching Loftus, police will allege her car was almost involved in a collision with a police vehicle that had been patrolling near the intersection of Sixth and Loftus avenues.

A roadside breath test returned a positive reading and the woman was arrested and taken to Sutherland Police Station.

A subsequent breath analysis returned a reading of 0.103

The woman was issued a Field Court Attendance Notice for the offence of mid range drink driving.

She was granted conditional bail and will appear in Sutherland Local Court on June, 14. Her license was suspended.

The children were left with a responsible guardian. A notification has been made to Family and Community Services.
