The NSW Police Association has expressed “full support” for Superintendent Julian Griffiths, who has been moved to a new role after leading merged commands in Sutherland Shire.
Association representative, Detective Senior Constable Dallas Pratt, said Mr Griffiths, who headed the Sutherland command for six years before this year’s merger, was highly respected both within the merged command and by the association.
The association would continue to support Mr Griffiths in his new role managing the “very complex” St George Police Area Command, she said.
The Leader reported this month the merger had caused upheaval.
Detective Senior Constable Pratt said an impression may have been given Mr Griffiths’s transfer and a complaint by an officer were connected.
“This is not the case,” she said.
Nine other commanders were moved at the same time, she said.
It would be extremely difficult for one commander to make every staff member happy.

Detective Senior Constable Pratt said the association’s view was that any unrest was due to “not being able to please everyone”.
”Sutherland Shire Police Area Command has over 250 staff and it would be extremely difficult for one commander to make every staff member happy,” she said.
”During the six years Mr Griffiths has been a commander in the shire, he has been very well respected and done a wonderful job.”
