A motorist was charged with high-range drink driving after the car he was driving hit a man on a pedestrian crossing at Cronulla overnight.
The 49-year-old pedestrian suffered minor injuries to his right knee and right foot, and did not require medical treatment.
A police spokesman said, just after 11.30pm on Saturday, a white Holden utility was driving along Kingsway, Cronulla, and allegedly failed to stop at a pedestrian crossing, hitting a 49-year-old man.
“The vehicle continued driving, and was seen turning left onto Elouera Road, allegedly through a red light,” the spokesman said.
“Officers from Sutherland Shire Police Area Command stopped the Holden a short distance away.
“The driver, a 35-year-old man, allegedly returned a positive result to a roadside breath test.
“He was arrested and taken to Sutherland Police Station where he returned an alleged breath analysis of 0.162.
“The man was charged with drive dangerously and high-range PCA.
“He was granted bail and is due to appear at Sutherland Local Court on Thursday 21 June.”
