James Cooks Boys Technology High School student, Yusuf Ayik, 18, will represent Rockdale at the 2018 YMCA NSW Youth Parliament in July.
Youth Parliament is managed by YMCA NSW and coordinated by a volunteer taskforce of young people aged between 18 and 22 who facilitate youth-led advocacy, community leadership and education about the parliamentary process.
The student from Brighton-Le-Sands is one of 94 young people selected to debate bills on youth mental health, the environment, housing affordability and education – in the house of representatives at Parliament House.
He forms part of the trade and industry committee, and hopes to make a change in increasing housing affordability and is passionate about anti-pollution.
