A 13 hectare hazard reduction burn will take place this Saturday at Engadine.
The burn is being conducted on the eastern side of Croston Road and once completed will protect approximately 100 residential properties.
Sutherland Rural Fire Service crew will be undertaking the burn from 9am on May 26 with 60 firefighters participating.
It is anticipated the operation will be completed by late afternoon.
Mild conditions and light winds are currently forecast.
“More detailed information about the movement of smoke will be provided later in the week to assist the community prepare accordingly,” the Sutherland RFS Facebook page advises.
Nearby suburbs of Woronora Heights, Loftus, Woronora and Yarrawarrah might be effected by smoke also.
