I went for a walk to identify the ongoing problem of shifting sand in Botany Bay and it is not a pretty sight.
At Sans Souci, and even Wooloware Bay in the shire, sand is being driven to clog up the bayside coastline.
At Ramsgate the baths and walkways have become even more dangerous with the usual sands swept away or onto the parklands.
Bayside Council recently asked the State Government to fund minimal remediation works but were told that they didn’t fit into one set of funding and the other set would have to wait.
Can’t understand a government with billions in reserve, being unable to resolve a problem which was caused by the state government (both Liberal and Labor) with building Port Botany and the federal government extending the airport.
Both projects bring in massive income to government yet they can’t remediate a problem they were told would happen when inquiries were undertaken.
Well done Bayside Council and staff for persistence.
Come on NSW and Federal governments.
Lady Robinson’s Beach is an icon for tourists, locals and the environment. It need a proper fix not band aids.
