Re the article ‘‘Health chief Marr resigns’’ (Leader, May 23).
I completely agree with Councillor Carol Provan regarding Gerry Marr’s resignation.
Mr Marr, Jillian Skinner and the board chairman Michael Still ‘‘led a witch hunt’’ with regard to Dr Kiran Phadke.
The toll on Dr Phadke, his family and the many distraught cancer patients left without their trusted and beloved doctor, was unbelievable and quite frankly shameful.
Dr Phadke endured a gruelling investigation for two years and has been fully cleared.
Ms Skinner resigned. Mr Marr has resigned. What about Mr Still? Justice will not be fully served until all perpetrators are gone.

Gerry Marr has decided to skip out early as the chief of the Southern Sydney Health Service. Well, none to soon Gerry.
Marr’s performance through the course of recent parliamentary enquiries exposes a man out of touch when it comes to the carriage of care the public expects from our health system.
These enquiries highlighted a system presided over by Mr Marr that rates management practice above medical practice.
A system where lives and personalities become performance statistics. A system where management appears void of understanding for the lifetime rigour our specialist professionals dedicate to those in their care.
How did we get to this?
We heard nothing through enquiries to suggest health system managers attempted to understand the intricacies of life saving therapies provided by those who know.
To our Minister Hazzard, don’t slip into the groove of disconnected bureaucracy; lift the system out of the management mire and embrace the active professionals we so desperately rely on to help you shape a health system that truly responds to and advances our health needs.

Mr Marr has resigned from his position with NSW Health due to take effect in August.
During his tenure a most respected Oncologist/haematologist Dr Kiran Phadke was unjustly treated and his professional reputation was in question.
His family was also thrust into the limelight. Thank goodness they had the strength to endure but at no small cost. The people who know Dr Phadke and his excellent patient care rallied behind him and have strongly supported him.
Thank goodness common sense prevailed and his practice and expertise are now fully restored and he can return to patient care.
