Country Companion Animal Rescue is a community organisation that rescues dogs and cats from country pounds where the animals don't have much chance of adoption.
In many areas of the country if a dog doesn’t work, its deemed not to be worth keeping so it can be abandoned or worse.
Based at Helensburgh and run by founder Julie-Ann Ehrlich they are always in need of some volunteer help with caring for the animals including general socialization and walking.
They drive to outback pounds collecting dogs and cats that otherwise would never get adopted and bring them to rescue groups closer to large residential areas, where the chance of them finding a home is much greater.
Kruger is a special case in point,he is a dog that comes from a small country town in the central west, where he was bred to become a pig hunters dog. Kruger and his sister were considered unsuitable and luckily for them were dropped off at the local dog pound.
Kruger's sister was adopted shortly after coming into care, but no one has shown interest in her brother, and he has now been at Country Companion Animal Rescue for nearly 18 months, waiting.
“He is a handsome boy always smiling, always happy to see anyone, loves his stuffed toys and his paddle pool.” Julie-Ann said
“He loves his pats, loves to be praised and loves to make his carers happy.
“ He would be so much happier and so much better off in a home of his own, where he does not have to take his turn to be patted & played with”
Kruger is just over 2 years old , he is vaccinated, microchipped, desexed and life time registered.
“Who ever gives him a chance would not be sorry, he will become your best friend for life.” Julie-Ann said
“We are desperate to give him a home”
