James Hu, pictured second from right, reads his book Rhys, Hartley, Aaliyah, Chloe, Kirsten and Leo at Bay Road Kindy.
It is not unusual for an author to visit a school and read a book to children.
But when Bay Road Kindy at Gymea Bay invited a former student back to its Kindergarten, kids were quite surprised to see their guest was not much older than them.
James Hu, who is fluent in Mandarin, was a student at the Kindergarten four years ago.
He returned to his old school recently for a special show and tell session.
James, 7, wrote his first picture book, The Grasshopper’s Best Friends, inspired by a time he saw a grasshopper in the grass at school.
He is also working on his next project, a chapter book.
