The little Miranda girl who captured the hearts of Sutherland Shire lost her battle with an aggressive brain tumour on Thursday, June 7.
The news was announced to her supporters on her charity Facebook page, Milan’s Miracle.
“Milan gained her wings and is now a real angel flying high,” it read.
“She fought till the very last breath...this is absolutely devastating.”
Hundreds of people posted their tributes to the family, who will have a private service for Milan on Friday, June 8.
A fundraising night that was planned in her honour this Saturday, June 9, at Penshurst RSL will still go ahead.
Carol Ferrone who features in ABC TV’s Back in Time for Dinner will be MC at the event.
“We are still doing the charity night in celebration of her short life,” event organiser Pat Gleeson said.
Milan Nguyen-Mai turned six in May, and enjoyed a fairy-themed birthday party.
The pupil of Our Lady of Fatima School, Caringbah, had medulloblastoma, which is the most common brain tumour in children.
She was being treated at Sydney Children’s Hospital.
More than $100,000 has been raised for the family.
