A man will face court following an alleged armed robbery and carjacking in Connells Point last month.
Police will allege that at 8.30pm on May 29 the man arrived at the address of the sale of a luxury car and asked to go on a test drive.
The 29-year-old man then allegedly produced a firearm and demanded the vehicle keys and mobile from a 48-year-old man who was a relative of the owner of the car.
The 48-year-old was then told to get out of the metallic silver 2015 Mercedes C63S sedan at the intersection of Greenacre Road and Homedale Crescent, Connells Point.
The car, with the distinctive NSW registration 11SUMO, was last seen turning right onto Homedale Crescent.
The carjack victim who only wanted to be identified as Nash said he feared for his life at the time of the incident.
‘‘We just went around the street like normal and went around the block and I said we better turn right here but he’s taken a left and I knew something was going to go down from there,” Nash said.
‘‘It was scary because I didn’t know what was going on until he put the gun up.
‘‘He threatened me and said give me the keys.’’
Officers from St George Police Area Command attended the scene and launched an investigation into the circumstance surrounding the incident.
Following inquiries, the vehicle was located in an underground carpark in Merrylands on Thursday, May 31.
The car was seized and examined by specialist police.
As a result, detectives executed a search warrant at a home on Clyde Street, Croydon Park, today.
A 29-year-old man was arrested and taken to Burwood Police Station.
He was charged with aggravated assault with intent to take/drive motor vehicle armed with weapon, robbery while armed with dangerous weapon and drive motor vehicle during disqualification period.
The man was refused bail and will appear at Parramatta Local Court on Saturday.
