Stories rise from the pages of popular children’s stories

The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show returns to Australia ahead of a 22-city national tour with a performance at the Sutherland Entertainment Centre on July 7.

Brought to life with a menagerie of 75 loveable puppets, this critically-acclaimed production faithfully adapts four of Carle’s stories: The Artist Who Painted a Blue Horse, Mister Seahorse,The Very Lonely Firefly and of course, the star of the show – The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

Among the cast of The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show is Sans Souci resident, actor and puppeteer Scott Parker.

Parker sad touring with the show has been an ‘‘amazing experience’’.

‘‘I joined the team in 2016 and have performed the show close to 200 times,’’ Parker said. ‘‘It’s a rare thing to work on a show as long running as this, especially in Australia, so I’m very thankful to be involved.

‘‘The cast and crew are stunning human beings and the show itself is beautiful. 

‘‘We work with around 75 puppets, so it’s a bit of a work-out but we have a lot of fun and I think the kids can sense that.’’

After being all over Australia with the show Parker said it was good to be coming back to the shire.

‘‘I went to school down the road from The Sutherland Entertainment Centre and grew up seeing shows there so it’ll be fun to be on the stage myself as part of their 2018 season,’’ Parker said.

‘‘There is one audience that I’m most excited to have at the show. Since joining the Caterpillar cast I now have two beautiful nieces who’ve just turned two so I’m excited for them to see the show – I think they’re going to go crazy when Caterpillar comes out.’’

This enchanting Australian-made show, created by Jonathan Rockefeller, transports audiences into a pop-up-like version of Carle’s world that will entertain the whole family.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show will be performed at the Sutherland Entertainment Centre at 11am on Saturday, July 7.
