Bayside Council is urging residents to make full use of its pre-booked and scheduled clean-up services and help stop illegal dumping which is costing the council almost $200,000 a year to combat.
The free Bayside Waste app, downloaded from app stores, provides information on Council’s Waste and Cleansing Services and helps ensure residents never miss another collection day.
The app can also be used to report illegal dumping for Council to investigate.
Last month Bayside Waste Regulation Officers and the Regional Illegal Dumping (RID) squad issued six notices under the NSW Protection of the Environment and Operations Act.
Bayside Council collected and disposed 778 tonnes of illegally dumped material in 2015/16 compared to 766 tonnes in 2016/17.
In 2016/17 Council spent $172,000 to dispose of illegally dumped rubbish.
“I would like to thank all residents that are using clean-up services and helping keep Bayside clean by disposing of waste responsibly,” Bayside Council mayor Bill Saravinovski said.
“It is important Council and residents work together to keep our streets tidy and clean,” he said.
