UPDATE (3.30pm):
A man remains in a critical condition after being struck by a car in Arncliffe on Monday afternoon.
The incident occurred on the Princes Highway at Forest Road about 1.15pm.
The injured man, believed to be aged in his 50s, was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics.
The Crash Investigation Unit is on scene and police inquiries have begun into the incident.
More than two hours later, traffic remains affected in the area.
One northbound lane is now closed to motorists.

There are traffic delays in Arncliffe on Monday afternoon after a pedestrian was struck by a car.
The incident occurred on the Princes Highway at the Forest Road intersection about 1.15pm.
As a result, the highway remains closed to northbound motorists.
All eastbound lanes are closed on Forest Road.
All westbound lanes are closed on Wickham Street
Northbound motorists are being diverted onto Terry Street, followed by West Botany Street and back onto the highway.
Eastbound motorists on Forest Road must turn left at the Princes Highway.
Wickham Street is also closed to westbound traffic at West Botany Street.
Emergency services and RMS personnel remain at the scene.
The Crash Investigation Unit is also at the scene.
A Transport Management Centre spokesperson urged motorists to avoid the area if possible.
“Motorists already in the area are advised to allow plenty of additional travel time, exercise caution and follow directions of emergency crews,” they said.
Some buses travelling through Arncliffe and Mascot will be delayed up to 25 minutes.
