Shire Christian’s School new production, Stories in the Dark, will captivate and comfort.
The school’s latest play will be performed by students this month, June.
It is based on Debra Oswald’s contemporary Australian play that won the NSW Premier’s Literary Award in 2008.
The performance will brings stories to life through two teenagers, Anna and Tomas, who are caught up in a war.
Having lost their families they struggle to deal with the many challenges with which they are faced.
In sharing stories together, they find comfort, connection and a sense that they are not alone.
Oswald (creator of the TV series Offspring) has crafted a tapestry of ogres, princes and dragons within the stories, that come alive on stage as they are vividly told by Anna and a Tomas.
With a cast of students from years 7-12, this performance presents the play in a creative way with a set that incorporates hanging chairs, an old school overhead projector and slime.
The matinee performance is at 10am on June 26.
Evening performances are at 7.30pm from June 27-29.
