You would be forgiven for thinking spring had made a tiny, momentary appearance last week.
But the weekend’s chilly blast was a stark reminder that the cold conditions are here to stay for some time yet.
The state of today’s beaches match the strong wind pick-up from the past couple of days.
Surf conditions are more powerful than they appear, with a peak in a new south swell through Monday up to 6-8 foot at south facing beaches.
Conditions are expected to be hazardous for coastal activities including rock fishing and swimming.
Easing southerly swells are expected from Tuesday onwards.
