The Olympic pool at Engadine Leisure Centre will reopen on Saturday, July 14, after repairs on a major water leak from the filtration system.

A council spokeswoman said the pool would be available from 6am on Saturday and programs will return as normal from Monday, July 16.

“The water temperature may be slightly cooler than usual over the weekend as the pool is heated back to temperature,” she said.

“We appreciate [the public’s] patience during this time.”

The Olympic pool at Engadine Leisure Centre has been temporarily closed because of a major water leak.

A Sutherland Shire Council spokeswoman said emergency repair works were needed on a vital pipe that services the pool.

“The major water leak was detected on Tuesday morning and the pool was closed soon after for investigative works,” she said.

“Plumbers and technicians are currently working to establish the extent of the damage to the pipe and have advised the duration of the repairs may take up to one week.

“We will provide further updates as soon as the information is available.

“Council regularly checks the pool and any required repairs are carried out as soon as possible to ensure the safety of our community.”
