There were many warm smiles and nice comments from other passengers when a group of mums and their babies took a train from Kogarah station on Thursday.
The mothers of the four girls, aged seven months to 11 months, told the Leader they became friends after meeting at Kogarah Library.
Caiyun, Han, Fiona and Chen, all Kogarah residents, said were heading to the Nubo play centre in Alexandria.
They were full of praise for Kogarah Library as a place that not only caters for children of all ages, but also where parents can make new friends.
The Georges River Council website shows Kogarah Library’s regular preschool program includes:
- Rhyme Time for Babies up to 18 months, 10am to 10.30am, Thursdays.
- Rhyme Time for Toddlers (18 months – 3 years), 11am to 11.30, Thursday.
- Mandarin Rhyme Time, in Mandarin and English, for babies and toddlers (0 - 3 years), 10am to 10.30am, Wednesdays.
- Story Time for children aged 3 - 5 years, including stories, songs and craft, 10.30am to 11.15am, Fridays.
There are also children’s and youth programs.
Extra programs are run over school holidays.
The council’s other libraries run similar programs for all age groups.
A toy library is also available at Hurstville City Library.
