Drivers have been fined after a red light camera reportedly malfunctioned at a busy intersection at Caringbah on the weekend.
People posted on Facebook that they had been incorrectly penalised at a red light speed camera detector at Kingsway and Kareena Road, near Sutherland Hospital.
They commented that the camera was constantly flashing, even when drivers had the right of way on a green light.
A Roads and Maritime spokesman said it was aware of the incident and had dispatched a specialist to investigate.
“Under normal operation, cameras will flash when a vehicle is detected speeding, running a red light or a red arrow,” he said.
“If the camera is identified as being faulty any infringements would be rescinded.”
