Former Victorian detective Ron Iddles has been cleared of wrongdoing relating to his review of a case against a convicted police killer.
Mr Iddles had been under investigation by Victoria Police's Professional Standards Command over his review of the case against Jason Roberts, convicted alongside Bandali Debs of murdering officers Gary Silk and Rodney Miller in 1998.
The former homicide detective in October said the complaint related to a referral he made to the Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission after uncovering information requiring he notify the watchdog.
In a statement on Friday, Victoria Police said an investigation into the complaint had wrapped up and the matter would not be taken further.
"As there is also a current IBAC enquiry in process relating to incidents connected with this matter, it would be inappropriate for Victoria Police to comment further," the force said.
Mr Iddles and another retired detective, Charlie Bezzina, went to IBAC last year with what they claimed were the original and doctored versions of a police statement.
They alleged the tampered document was used in evidence to help convict Roberts over the murders of Mr Silk and Miller.
Mr Iddles earlier said his review into the case against Roberts, serving life in prison, "found two or three things that maybe, on the balance of probabilities, he wasn't there (at the scene)."
"That would no doubt ruffle the feathers of police officers because they would think that is something that I should leave alone," he told 3AW in October.
